M. Maur Ghetto in flames
Barbara Engelking
bengelki@ifispan.edu.pl Author Biographypsychologist, professor of social sciences. She is a director of the Polish Center for Holocaust Research at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Together with Jacek Leociak, she is the scholarly supervisor of the Holocaust gallery at the Polin Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw. Recently, she published Jest taki piękny, słoneczny dzień… Losy Żydów szukających ratunku na wsi polskiej 1942–1945 (2011) and (together with Jacek Leociak) a new, revised, revised and extended edition of the book Getto warszawskie. Przewodnik po nieistniejącym mieście (2013), as well as critical editions of sources: Umierać też trzeba umieć… by Mietek Pachter (2015), Sny chociaż mamy wspaniałe. Okupacyjne dzienniki Żydów z okolic Mińska Mazowieckiego (2016) and „Po wojnie, z pomocą bożą, już niebawem”. Pisma Kopla i Mirki Piżyców o życiu w getcie i okupacyjnej Warszawie (2017). Co-editor (with Jan Grabowski) and co-author of the two-volume publication Dalej jest noc. Losy Żydów w wybranych powiatach okupowanej Polski (2018).

The author presents M. Maur’s account of a bunker fire during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising (previously unpublished), preserved in the Adolf Berman Archive.
